Lenovo T14s, a lightweight, tough work laptop, see the review

Share

Lenovo is increasingly aggressively launching their latest ThinkPad variant. Interestingly, currently, Lenovo offers many ThinkPad devices that use AMD processors. One of them is the Lenovo ThinkPad T14s. This laptop is one of the most compact and lightweight ThinkPad laptops. For workers who want to have a work laptop that is ready to be carried everywhere, it seems this laptop can be one of the main candidates.

Terms of design, there are no significant changes between the Lenovo T14s and other ThinkPad series. What is really different is only on the side of the spur kitchen, and of course, the features that are presented. They still use the classic laptop design with a touch of black color on all of its bodies. The front cover still uses a rugged texture.

this laptop actually competes with several other compact laptops

When it comes to dimensions, this laptop actually competes with several other compact laptops. Because its dimensions are in the range of 1.6 x 32.7 x 22.6 cm so, users will not be too bothered when they want to carry this laptop everywhere. As for the weight, the ThinkPad T14s only weigh 1.27 Kg. This weight makes the laptop between the ThinkPad T14 and ThinkPad X1 Carbon. So imagine how light this laptop is. To get this lightweight, Lenovo uses polycarbonate material. Although light, this material is considered very strong, which makes this laptop light and durable.

Despite having a thin and compact design, the name of the I / O port presented is quite complete. On the left, we’ll see two USB Type-C ports for data and charging, an HDMI port, one USB 3.2 Type-A, and a 3.5mm combo headphone jack. Not to forget, there is also a special port that is useful for connecting Ethernet devices which are sold separately. While on the right, there is an always-on USB Type-A, a port for a SmartCard reader, and a Kensington port.

To be honest, for a laptop aimed at workers, the number of ports is quite limited. As is known, workers usually use many external components to work. There is no port expansion dongle in the sales package. In addition, the absence of a LAN port made us quite disappointed. What’s worse, the LAN dongle offered by Lenovo has a price that is not cheap.

For the screen, Lenovo provides a 14-inch screen with an IPS panel

Small screen, great sound, superior security features For the screen, Lenovo provides a 14-inch screen with an IPS panel. The resolution of this laptop already uses full HD 1080p with a 16:9 ratio. For screen brightness, this laptop supports up to 400 nits of brightness, which is bright enough indoors, but still not comfortable when used outdoors.

The color accuracy is also quite good, so this laptop can be used not only for editing photos or videos but also comfortable enough to watch movies when you want to rest. The hinges can also be opened up to 180 degrees. If you want to have a laptop with a 360-degree screen, you can choose to use the Yoga series from Lenovo.

The bezel on this screen is very thin for the size of a laptop that is focused on workers. This makes this laptop seem elegant and very comfortable to the eye even though it is used to work all day. One more thing that is not sacrificed by Lenovo. Because laptops are for workers, security and privacy features are a priority on this laptop. This is shown through some of the features offered by Lenovo in this ThinkPad T14s.

The first is the presence of the Privacy Guard feature

The first is the presence of the Privacy Guard feature. This is a feature that will limit the viewing angle of the screen. To use it, you just have to press the Fn + D keys to activate and deactivate the feature. There is also a manual camera cover feature to provide added protection for the users. Oh yeah, speaking of cameras, the T14s has one camera on the screen bezel. The camera supports 720p video resolution. The results of this camera are also good enough to be used when making video calls to work or holding meetings with clients. Lastly, for user protection, there is also a fingerprint scanner on the right side of the touchpad. This sensor is quite precise and can read fingerprints quickly. But our advice, they better embed.
