Nintendo Switch OLED 7 Inch is out, Here Are the Specs

Share

Nintendo has finally officially launched the latest Nintendo Switch OLED game console with a larger 7-inch screen. This latest game console only brings changes to the side of the screen, different from previous rumours.

This latest generation of switches will carry a chip made by Nvidia. This Nintendo Switch OLED supports 1080p in the TV model instead of 4K, as previously reported. The Nintendo Switch OLED also has a new stand that can be adjusted when played on a table.

The Nintendo Switch OLED has 64 GB of internal storage, up from the previous version, which was only 32 GB. The game console also has a new dock with a wired ethernet port built into it.

Nintendo also confirmed that there were no major changes to the CPU and RAM, so it’s not much different from the previous generation Nintendo Switch. Nintendo claims the Nintendo Switch OLED has up to nine hours of battery life. Another difference lies in the dimensions and weight of the console.

Nintendo Switch recorded a new feat. The console managed to surpass the sales figures of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) throughout history. By the end of 2019, Nintendo had sold more than 52 million Switch consoles.

This figure beats the old SNES console sales record, which reached 49.7 million units during its sales period. The Switch console has overtaken sales of the SNES in just under three years.

Nintendo announced a new console that complements the Nintendo Switch line

Nintendo announced a new console that complements the Nintendo Switch line. The console called Nintendo Switch Lite will be sold at a more affordable price than the regular version.

In a short video, General Producer of Nintendo Switch, Yoshiaki Koizumi, said that the Nintendo Switch Lite was made specifically for handheld use. This means that this console will only be able to be played in hand without being able to be connected to a television.

According to Koizumi, this is indeed one of the differences between the Switch Lite and the regular version of the Switch. As the name implies, the features and specifications of the Nintendo Switch Lite are certainly lower and slightly lower than its predecessor.

Apart from not being able to connect to a television, the joystick on the Nintendo Switch Lite is not removable like a regular Switch. As a result, if a user wants to play a game with two players, then they have to buy an additional regular Nintendo Switch joystick, as quoted by The Verge.

In addition to these two features, the Nintendo Switch Lite also has a number of differences in design. Nintendo cut the weight of this console to be lighter, so it is comfortable to play in hand.

The Nintendo Switch Lite has a 5.5-inch widescreen. This size is smaller than the regular Switch, which is 6.2 inches wide. In contrast, connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC are still available on this console.
