When it comes to smartphone innovation, OPPO has been at the forefront with many new introductions and patents. Previously, OPPO had received a patent for a smartphone concept with a side-rolling screen on its product, OPPO X 2021. Now, the company has filed a new patent for a smartphone with a circular dual-sided flexible screen concept.
Reporting from Gizmochina (30/6), OPPO has filed a patent with the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) for the latest concept. With documentation called “Method for assembling and disassembling electronic equipment”. The documentation describes the method of assembling and disassembling a circular double-sided flexible screen.
Jermaine Smit is the person who conceptualized the screen. This concept is also the result of collaboration with LetsGoDigital. Smartphones with the concept of a circular double-sided flexible screen have super-thin bezels, and the left side has a screen that is circular to the back. Even though the screen is extended and coiled, it doesn’t bend. The screen that looks like it’s wrapped around looks sharp and has a sophisticated design. OPPO said that the smartphone uses a super-thin steel plate between the screen and the chassis that allows the screen to be placed, with a relatively thin thickness on both sides in a circle.

For the back of the smartphone with a circular double-sided flexible screen concept, the render also shows the rear camera setup. The device will have four sensors and a flash located under the lens. The rear camera will be able to function as well as the front camera. This is possible because the screen that is circular to the back can be adjusted for selfies. With the screen on one side of the bezel, this makes the volume settings positioned on the far right edge seen from the front.
