And the Processor can also be upgraded to Iris Xe or a dedicated AMD GPU. The Toughbook 40 is backed by up to 64GB of RAM and 2TB of SSD storage with encryption. And the laptop is also equipped with additional security, namely Secure Wipe, to erase the contents on the drive in seconds.

The laptop operating system uses Windows 10 and Windows 11 Pro. And users can have it with a Blu-ray or DVD drive. This laptop can be used for up to 36 hours in the field if the user brings an optional second battery.

Custom GPS modules can also be configured. There are plenty of USB ports, too (including support for Thunderbolt 4), in addition to HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet LAN, microSD slot, and dual SIM.

The Panasonic Toughbook 40 features a keyboard, which has a screen light for ease of use in low-light conditions, plus a large resistive touch panel that can be used in the rain or while wearing gloves. The laptop also has a 95 dB up-facing speaker, which can be heard in noisy work environments.
