For performance, this Panasonic Toughbook 40 Laptop is powered by an Intel Core i5 or i7 Gen-11 processor with integrated UHD graphics. And the Processor can also be upgraded to Iris Xe or a dedicated AMD GPU. The Toughbook 40 is backed by up to 64GB of RAM and 2TB of SSD storage with encryption. And the laptop is also equipped with additional security, namely Secure Wipe, to erase the contents on the drive in seconds.

The laptop operating system uses Windows 10 and Windows 11 Pro. And users can have it with a Blu-ray or DVD drive. This laptop can be used for up to 36 hours in the field if the user brings an optional second battery.

This Panasonic Toughbook 40 laptop is also equipped with MIL-STD-810H and MIL-STD-461H military-standard certifications. The laptop is claimed to have been dropped from a height of 1.8 meters, protected from water and dust with an IP66 base, can withstand high and low temperatures, is anti-radiation, and is resistant to use at high elevations.

For the screen, the Panasonic Toughbook 40 has a touch-capable IPS panel. The resolution is Full HD with a brightness of 1,200 nits, so it’s easy to see when outdoors. And this laptop is made with a bigger screen than the previous generation. The Toughbook 40 comes with a weight of only 3.35 kg. It is lighter in weight than its predecessor.

The Toughbook 40 also has a 5 MP webcam equipped with a privacy shutter. And infrared features for Windows Hello and is supported by a “tetra-array microphone”. And for connectivity, this laptop consists of Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 6, with a choice of cellular connectivity via a 4G (LTE/LTE-A) or 5G (mmWave/C-band/Sub6) modem. Custom GPS modules can also be configured. There are plenty of USB ports, too (including support for Thunderbolt 4), in addition to HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet LAN, microSD slot, and dual SIM.

The Panasonic Toughbook 40 features a keyboard, which has a screen light for ease of use in low-light conditions, plus a large resistive touch panel that can be used in the rain or while wearing gloves. The laptop also has a 95 dB up-facing speaker, which can be heard in noisy work environments.

Panasonic has also designed the laptop with eight modular user-replaceable components to help the laptop last longer or allow for special customization – including battery, memory, storage, and keyboard. And for the price, the Panasonic Toughbook 40 retails for $4,899
