Samsung launched its newest application, the Walkie Talkie application, for its latest Galaxy Watch series smartwatch devices. Namely the Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic. The Walkie Talkie application allows users to have push-to-talk conversations with each other using wearable devices without having to make calls.
The Walkie Talkie application was first discovered by XDA-Developers. And revealed that if this feature only works for the latest Galaxy Watch devices. This means the previous generation does not support the Walkie Talkie feature.
This feature is similar to Apple’s, wherein 2018 Apple had similar features to the Apple Watch with the WatchOS 5 operating system. However, the difference is that the push-to-talk walkie talkie feature on Apple only allows two people to communicate at once. While in Samsung this feature can be done by two or more users.
Perfomance The Walkie Talkie Feature
The Walkie Talkie feature application is quite easy to use as long as users can find enough people who are using the Wear OS 3-based Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic. Where only two devices are currently listed as compatible with the app on its Play Store listing namely Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic
To be able to run this feature, the user must first create an account to be able to log in to the Samsung account. Samsung also recommends using and running apps for the first time when the watch is connected to a smartphone.
Furthermore, users can also create conversations through channels by connecting to a nearby friend’s watch. And talk by pressing the large microphone button in the centre of the screen. Users can also disable this feature at any time.
